to the Franco-Iranian Lawyers' Society’s website
Who are we? The French Society of Franco-Iranian lawyers (SAFIR, in its abbreviated French version) was formed in September 2000 in Paris from the idea of a few French lawyers sharing a double Franco-Iranian culture. SAFIR is a non-profit organization under the French Law of 1901, organized especially for professional but also charitable and, educational purposes including promoting the social, economic, professional and educational advancement of the Iranian-French community, and the community at large. Starting with a few founding members, SAFIR's membership has grown to over fifty French attorneys, legal faculties and law students, with a particularly strong presence in Paris but with members also from other cities in France. SAFIR recruits the most distinguished members of the Iranian-French legal community as its Directors and Officers, and upholds the highest levels of professional integrity and excellence. Our mission The organization is founded upon three common denominators uniting its members.
Our action SAFIR already has more than fifty active members. Regular meetings provide members with an opportunity to forge genuinely friendly relations and to reinforce a fraternal spirit based on the principle of mutual assistance. The synergy produced by these meetings is obvious in the rapid and efficient exchange of professional or cultural information of interest to the members. In order to further facilitate this process, the society relies on an active internet and e-mail network. The SAFIR Events Committee is in charge of this action. The members also use their experience and expertise to assist bicultural students studying law in France and planning to exercise any of the various legal professions. We are dedicated to ensuring that the difficulties associated with such an endeavor in no way limit or weaken the vision with which this project was begun or the enthusiasm with which it has been greeted. SAFIR also aims to promote the social, economic, professional and educational advancement of Franco-Iranians, to create a close network of Franco-Iranian lawyers and law students and to promote the achievements of Franco-Iranian lawyers. SAFIR is a non-religious, non-political, independent organization and is not in any way affiliated with any other organization. SAFIR is not a lobbying or advocacy group, but primarily an educational and professional organization. As such, SAFIR seeks to educate and inform the Iranian-French community about legal issues of interest, and to ensure that the French public at large as well as our representatives and other government officials are fully and accurately informed on legal matters of interest and concern to the Iranian-French community. In addition, SAFIR strives to publicize and promote the achievements of Iranian-Feench lawyers. The SAFIR Legal Committe is in charge of these other actions. Finally, SAFIR is a French organization seeking to expand professional relationships by establishing local chapters throughout European Union. Therefore, SAFIR endeavour to get in relation with similar associations formed in other countries around the world and particularly in Europe and North America. SAFIR's board is at your disposal in order to respond to any and all of your questions. |
